Tips on Selling

Join Teams - By joining teams and participating in discussions and games you get more views and shares!

Pricing your items - When pricing your items you should consider everything that goes into making your item. (materials, Etsy & Paypal fees, packaging, and the time you spend assembling and listing your item.) Low prices can kill your business, think about what you need to make a profit and not just get by. Do some research and see what others are selling the same items for, and then think about weather they are reasonable.

Current Postage - Stay up to date on postage. With the ever changing prices of shipping, you need to keep your shop current. Don't try to make a profit with your postage; you will lose a few sales that way. Would you continue to buy from someone that charges you $10 for shipping but the package lists $4.50? Not likely.

Fill our your shops policies and info as detailed as possible. Think about all the questions you may be asked and try to answer them.(shipping times, returns, discounts, etc.)

Don't be shy - When someone buys something from you, include a couple of your business card. Make sure they remember where they got it. I add a 10% off coupon for return customers on the back of a card with each purchase.

DETAILS -  Your titles and descriptions should be as detailed as possible. (This would make a great present for... Birthday, wedding, anniversary gift... What is it for? How big is it? etc.

Most important, Pictures - Do not list bad pictures, even if your in a hurry... Pictures are the number one thing that draws in the customers. Use natural lighting or a light box. Again, do some research. Look at other shops that are selling the same thing, do their pictures draw your eye? If its clothing or jewelry, use a model. If you use props, make sure they don't take over your pic and distract from your item.

Be Consistent - Don't try to sell everything under the sun. Stick to a theme. For instance, A shop is book related. Everything that sold is either for a book, or made from a book. Book Purses, Book Safes, Kindle/Nook covers made from books, necklace pendants made from the pages, etc.

I hope these tips are helpful. If you have some of your own, please feel free to share.
